-- A Closing Night reception with Middle Eastern and Jewish food will whet appetites prior to the film Sturgeon Queens. Dessert will follow the film.
To encourage the participation of young people, students from Carmel Middle School and Carmel High School are being offered free tickets to Body & Soul: An American Bridge on March 3. Also, Monterey Peninsula middle school and high school students with a student ID can receive free tickets at the door for the film, Fanny’s Journey, on March 18, 3:30 p.m., at MIIS. Based on a true story, a brave, resourceful girl leads a small band of orphans through Nazi-occupied France to safety in Switzerland.
Through the power and artistry of cinema, the Carmel Jewish Film Festival seeks to engage the greater Jewish and non-Jewish community in meaningful dialog on important issues of our day. While informed by a uniquely Jewish sensibility, our films communicate themes and messages with universal appeal to a wide audience drawn from the Monterey Peninsula and beyond. Our festival’s accompanying programs further engage mind and heart through discussion and social interaction. We hope that our festival will help bridge cultural and religious differences and contribute to solidarity and peace.
