  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) September 22, 2012 - In seven tales ranging from funny to frightening , the Los Angeles Playwrights Lab (LAPL) presents "7 Corpses" -- a broad, bold exploration of death this Halloween season. "7 Corpses" runs September 28-November 3, 2012, at The Complex, 6476 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90038, Thurs/Fri/Sat at 8 pm. This is the second production of the LAPL, a group founded in 2010 to produce original works from the writer's perspective.

    The six-week run of "7 Corpses" this Fall comes on the heels of the LAPL's first production of original shorts - "Beginnings" - which played to sold-out crowds at Hollywood's Asylum Lab Theatre in Spring 2012. Since then, the Lab's membership has grown to seven playwrights, each of whom have written and are producing a piece in "7 Corpses"....

    DEATH BECOMES US by R. J. Colleary: Ted and Emma are cosmically doomed to spend eternity trapped in the bedroom where they once lived, loved - and died. But when Myles and Heather, current occupants of the house, get life-changing news, it opens old, long- buried wounds for Ted and Emma. Directed by Suzan Mikiel.     MOURNING STORY by June Carryl: In the days following the Fukushima disaster, an old couple combs the beach and finds a young man mourning his lost daughter. Directed by Nikki Hevesy. Starring Arthur Keng, Eiji Inoue and Momo Yashima.

    CALL THIS A DATE by Julie Cain: Forced to remain in the restaurant during a holdup, Liz and Jason who met online find common ground through their abuse of the waitress and other patrons. Finally they leave and meet their just deserves. Directed by Bennett Cohon. Starring Tony Cicchetti, Catherine Lydon and Michelle Tanenbaum.

    FAMILY PENALTY by Katie Letien: Even distance can't keep us away from who we are. Sissy makes the mistake of returning home for her uncle's execution to face exactly what she feared and more. Directed by Andrea Andresakis. Starring Carrie Victoria Hogan, Cory Kempton and Carrie Reeves.

    DEATH UNIT by Robert Gardner: Two men transporting a prisoner recently executed by the state find themselves trapped in the basement of the Texas Prisons Death Unit. Directed by Yasmina Chirazi-Sommers. Starring Bryan Bellomo, Charls Sedgwick Hall and Maya Jean.
