57 Outlaw Custom Coupe at Rennsport Event
TruSpeed Motorcars of Costa Mesa is bringing a unique treat to the Rennsport Reunion IV just in time for the holidays.
- Gainesville, GA (1888PressRelease) November 05, 2011 - They are bringing a stunning red 1957 Porsche 356 that has been stripped and rebuilt from the ground up as a real classic along the lines of many 60's American V8 resto-mod cars.
The Outlaw Coupe is a genuine 1957 Porsche 356 that has been nipped, tucked and rejuvenated for today's driving environment all the while retaining the classic good looks that rolled off the line in 1957.
TruSpeed MotorCars owner Rob Morgan said that he "Realized the need for a very stylish and classic car while out racing in the Pirelli World Cup series. He knew that would want a car that would be fun and reliable enough to drive every day." Rob continued by saying that " While we had the speedsters on the floor, there was a need for a year round car too. The Outlaw Coupe offers a solid roof and locking doors so you can drive this car every day."
The first Outlaw project car is complete and you can see it this weekend at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. TruSpeed GM Tyler Tadevic said "We thought it would be fun to use all of our racing and mechanical skills to do a car the way we would like it, great handling, lots of horsepower and first class looks."
The TruSpeed Outlaw Coupe started with a real 57 coupe that was completely taken apart and built from ground up to be a fun and reliable car. The motor is a 2.0 914 motor built out to an eye popping 2.6. The engine features Fat Performance internals giving it up to 182 hp. The car currently weighs about 1500 lbs. so you do the math. There is a lot of one off fabrication done to the car as in the shifter and shifter tower.
The TruSpeed Outlaw Coupe features a 62 transmission. The newer transmission gives you a stronger gearbox with full syncros and a hydraulic clutch for better every day driving and easier shifting if you decide to take a lap or two at your favorite track. The brakes were updated too. Disc brakes were added on the front and an added proportioning valve helps to fine tune the stopping power of the Outlaw Coupe .
The car sits as low as most street drivers would dare, and it rides on some great looking Empi wheels. To finish off the car and give it an exhaust note that no one else has, a fully custom and tuned exhaust was the finishing touch.
If you miss this car this weekend at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway, you can see it online at outlawcoupe.truspeed.com or back at TruSpeed Motorcars in Costa Mesa next week.
TruSpeed Motorsports Motorcars will be at Rennsport Reunion IV at Mazda Laguna Seca October 14-16, 2011 at Laguna Seca, on California's Monterey peninsula.
