This is a workshop for women who are looking to start their own business and need to know all that is involved, and for those who already have a business and are looking to grow and expand.

These two tracks will be moderated by people who have entrepreneurial experience and can give information and answer questions about finances, HR, marketing and more. The track for those looking at becoming an entrepreneur, will cover the basics and give an introduction to all that it takes to start a business. The track for current business owners will give more advice on marketing and answer specific questions about growing a business.

Starting or running your own business can be very rewarding, but also quite frustrating. Being able to get some insights and answers into what it takes, and where to find needed resources is very useful. Having started and run more than one business, I know the pleasures, the pitfalls, and the rewards, said Pauline Field, Founder and Chair of 50/50 Leadership.

    Speaker Profile:
Binal D. Patel was born in Gujarat, India, and moved to Piscataway, NJ in November of 1995. After high school graduation she joined the U.S. Navy July 17, 2001 as an Undesignated Seaman. In October 2001, Binal’s first duty assignment was to the USS TORTUGA (LSD 46), where she was a Personnelmen in the Deck Department. Following this tour, she was assigned to the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73). Onboard the “GW”, she was hand-selected to cross rate as an Information Systems Technician (IT).

While at CYBERFOR, Binal was selected for promotion to Chief Petty Officer, and transferred to the USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH (CVN 77). On the “GHWB”, she had unlimited opportunities to lead junior and senior Sailors alike, and this leadership position and experience facilitated her selection to her current assignment within Secretary of Defense Communications and a promotion to Senior Chief Petty Officer (second highest enlisted rank in the U.S. Navy).

Binal has held various key leadership positions which involved increasing levels of responsibility, accountability, and authority. She is currently Vice President of ACT NOW Education which provide recourse to the military members and their families. She finds her work extremely rewarding as it is helping so many that are coming after her and helping them set themselves up for success in their next phase of career.

Binal has served his country for the last 19+ years. Even with a high-intensity career, including frequent relocations and deployments to war zones, as well as her family duties with one amazing son, she ensures that she is always ready to give back. She seeks to share her time and experience, never seeking anything in exchange other than constantly helping others to succeed.
