4ocean and Crunchi Cosmetics Announce Plastic Neutral Partnership
Crunchi is now 4ocean certified Plastic Neutral! 4ocean pulls one pound of plastic from our oceans for every pound used in our plastic-minimal packaging. Crunchi goes beyond neutrality to purchase additional clean-up credits during Earth Month and through special promotions throughout the year.
- (1888PressRelease) February 16, 2023 - BOCA RATON, Fla. - Crunchi Cosmetics, a high-performance beauty brand focused on safe, sustainable, and toxin-free cosmetics, is excited to announce a partnership with 4ocean, a purpose-driven B Corp organization dedicated to ending the ocean plastic crisis and addressing plastic pollution in the oceans, rivers, and coastlines around the world.
Beginning on February 15th, Crunchi will be the first cosmetic company to partner with 4ocean. Through this partnership, 4ocean will offset Crunchi's plastic footprint by recovering one pound of trash from the world’s global waterways for every pound of plastic used in the brand’s secondary packaging. This initiative will grant Crunchi the coveted 4ocean Certified Plastic Neutral seal.
This plastic neutral project was fueled by Crunchi’s commitment to sustainability, an important brand pillar since it was founded in 2016. Crunchi is dedicated to environmentally conscious packaging and does not use plastic within any primary packaging. Instead, the brand utilizes glass, paperboard, paper-wrap, wood, and innovative plant-based packaging for their cosmetic, skincare, and body care products. When plastic is necessary for secondary components like caps and pumps, the company uses BPA/BPS, and phthalate-free, recyclable plastic.
Alex Schulze, founder of 4ocean, said “We’re stoked to partner with Crunchi because they share our passion for the ocean and support our mission to protect it from plastic pollution. Partnerships like this are meaningful not just because they fund our cleanups, but because they help raise public awareness about plastic pollution and can inspire others to join the clean ocean movement. We look forward to working together to advance our cleanup goals together in the coming year.”
Together, the two entities will work together towards plastic neutral sustainability with additional cleanup efforts during key moments of the year, including Earth Month. With the help of 185 crew members and 17 vessels, 4ocean and Crunchi will recover a total of 100,000 pounds of plastic waste from the world’s oceans, rivers, and coastlines in the next two years. Most of the 100,000 pounds of waste will be pulled from Guatemala and Indonesia, as well as domestically.
Since day one Crunchi has been committed to producing high-performance cosmetics that are not only safe for people, but also for the planet. We are proud of our dedication to sustainable packaging and are thrilled to be partnering with 4ocean to participate in local and global ocean cleanup efforts,” said Melanie Petschke, Co-Founder of Crunchi Cosmetics.
Crunchi is proud to be part of the clean ocean movement and looks forward to reducing their plastic footprint. Later this year, the company plans to participate in beach cleanups hosted by 4ocean alongside likeminded volunteering companies to remove plastic waste within the local community.

About 4ocean
4ocean is an ocean cleanup company dedicated to ending the ocean plastic crisis. As a Public Benefit Corporation and Certified B Corp, they harness the power of business to fund a global cleanup operation that’s responsible for recovering millions of pounds of plastic and other debris from the world’s oceans, rivers, and coastlines. All their captains and crews are full-time employees who live in the communities they serve. The jobs they create help counteract the economic impacts of plastic pollution, incentivize environmental stewardship at the local level, and bring new opportunities for growth, equality, education, and prosperity to people whose livelihoods and quality of life are disproportionately impacted by plastic pollution. 4ocean understands that cleanups alone are not enough to achieve their mission, which is why they also work to educate the global community about plastic pollution, empower people to end their reliance on single-use plastic, and advocate for government incentives, business innovation, and cross-functional partnerships that support the creation and growth of a sustainable circular economy.
