3rd Annual Mountain Laurel Art Show
The Mountain Laurel will be in bloom, local artists come together to exhibit their work inspired by their surroundings. Join them at the beautiful woodlands location in Frederick, MD.
- Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) May 05, 2011 - The last three years this event has grown with new artists displaying their works at this exhibit. The Mountain Laurel bloom from mid-May to early June. The weekend of May 20-21-22 should bring the flowers at their peak. Local artists will have works in this post and beam studio/gallery location both inside and outside in the gardens. Surrounded by wild mountain laurel it is a beautiful backdrop for these artists work.
Homer Yost, a sculpture will have works in and around the gardens. In covered areas will be framed pieces by Linda Harrison-Parsons & Marilu Tousignaut. Linda focuses on nature as her theme using pastels to create her works on paper. Marilu uses a technique working with an exacto knief scratching through a black surface to expose the white clay beneath. This style create a very dramatic effect.
Joining Marilu are her daughters, Denise Tousignaut creating fiber arts and sister Tracy Tousignaut Reed with digital photography.
Another photographer focusing on the details in her work is Sarah Simpson. New this year, is glass jewelry artist, Cindi Olson.
These artist share a respect for nature and it shows in their works.
Join them in a walk in the garden, through the woods and see the pieces they have created for this show.
