3par storage systems for long-term archiving certified for iCAS
iTernity supports archiving with 3par in a storage cloud as well as in virtualized environments.
- (1888PressRelease) September 08, 2010 - Freiburg - iTernity GmbH in Freiburg (Germany) has now certified the storage products of storage manufacturer 3par. The smooth interaction of the two products was confirmed in extensive tests. 3par storage system users can now use the flexible long-term archiving functions, and benefit immediately from its advantages. "One of its special features is that iCAS can be used by 3par users in a cloud storage environment. iCas also allows a virtualization of the archive, which means that companies can utilize their storage systems even more efficiently", says Ralf Steinemann, Business Development Manager at iTernity GmbH. 3par systems are used mostly in finance and enterprise environments. iCAS has proven to be very effective in these sectors and ensures the implementation of compliance requirements, like GdPdU, GoBs, BDSG and the Sarbanes Oxley Act. 3par has been acquired by Hewlett Packard last week.
iCAS is deployed as an intermediate layer between ERP, DMS or ECM systems and hard disk storage. iCAS is generally manufacturer and platform independent, which means that 3par systems can be utilized in combination with any existing storage infrastructure. The iCAS software license is not paired with the hardware that is used. The result is a special benefit in terms of TCO (total cost of ownership), with savings of around 30 percent in comparison with other standard commercial solutions. When renewing hardware, the iCAS license will not have to be repurchased as it is the case with similar competitor products. 3par users will therefore always have the latest storage technologies available. iCAS is delivered as a fully pre-installed appliance, and can be easily integrated into an existing infrastructure. Administrators will not require any additional specialist knowledge and will not have to attend any time-consuming training sessions.
All data storage is encrypted, compressed and safely stored on the archiving medium. iCAS utilizes a patented container technology, which contains document and meta data. It is no longer possible to accidentally delete stored data before the end of the retention period. Archived documents are protected against manipulation with 512 bit hash values.
