3M GTG presents the xSlider billboard in Taipei

Grabbing attention in a buzz of media and people
For intensity of traffic, the area around the Taipei West Bus Terminal is comparable to locations such as New York's Times Square or Tokyo's Shibuya crossing - it's one of the busiest public places in the world. Up to one million passengers daily are passing this junction which includes a central bus station, a high-speed railway, a subway converge and a multi-lane motorway. As a result, a corresponding number of conventional advertising displays are already in place, whose messages have a hard time to find their way to their receivers. Attention and effective communication of messages in such a dynamic and lively space can only be achieved through well designed media installations with a powerful scope of features that are able to attract the attention needed. To match these requirements, the xSlider was designed as a device that leaves the current concept of billboard behind.
Salience through kinetics
The communicative impact of the xSlider evolves from its kinetic panels that physically glide across the main screen. They serve as an agent of communication in addition to images and sound. This interaction and synchronization of foreground and background visuals provides new scope for visual and narrative impact. Above all, the application of kinetics is startling and catches the eye of the passers by. Extensive visibility through scale and illumination
In order to support the kinetics' virtue even from a distance, the xSlider also was highly specified in terms of scale and illumination. At almost 5m high and over 40m long, the billboard is a unique and iconic landmark for the entire area. Its extraordinary construction allows it to glide around a 90° corner with a viewing angle of 270°. Hence, featured advertising content can be seen from all key access directions and therefore reaches a larger number of people. Furthermore, the xSlider announces its striking presence through the power of full illumination.
