Powerful concept for a challenging airport event area
Munich Airport "Franz Josef Strauss" is not only one of Europe's biggest air traffic hubs, but also a venue for events and a meeting point for a wide range of audiences and target groups. The Munich Airport Center (MAC) is a popular location for huge events including product presenŽtations, photo shoots and road shows. As Europe's largest roofed open area with 10,000 square meters of open space, the communication infrastructure has to meet numerous and challenging requirements: Not only does it need to assure successful and efficient messaging, it also has to support the many activities that are taking place there.
Rethinking the information screen
After being commissioned to develop a communication solution for the roofed space of MAC forum, 3M GTG redefined the classic approach of a digital billboard with the idea of a media installation that meets the challenging requirements of the MAC forum in terms of capability, spaŽtial arrangement, and uniqueness. The MetaTwistTower as a result is truly a world first and the leading example of a new and smarter generaŽtion of billboards. By adding physical versatility to content creativity, it is the next step on after the digitalization of signage. Since its LED screen can be adapted in format and orientation in space, it is suitable for a wide range of communication needs, from compelling advertising to the impressive digital support of events on location. This versatility brings remarkable benefits in terms of low investment costs for high communi-cations efficiency.
Versatility through modular LED screen design
The MetaTwistTower tower is in itself a spectacular event through its sheer operation. Designed as a triangular tower with three layers, each with three LED panels on precisely engineered rotation and folding mechanisms. These nine connected elements unfold to give a powerful performance with until now unseen dynamics.
Multi-purpose device
Through its smart versatility, the MetaTwistTower is a multi-purpose projection device for events on location such as public viewing and live broadcasts. Featured in prominent position, the MetaTwistTower serves as the central communication platform at the MAC forum, providing visiŽble and compelling information, whether it is daily business or a special event.
Distinctive landmark
The construction of the MetaTwistTower allows various media formats, ranging from classic full square to landscape and portrait formats. SwitŽching between these formats - and the movement of the panels is an integral part of the visual performance. Synchronized content and moŽving hardware open up new possibilities in narration and visual effects creating an exciting experience for passers by. This remarkable media installation, which is 10.6 m high and has over 41 m2 of luminous LED surface, constitutes an eye-catching landmark for the entire area.
First operation under full load at Munich Airport anniversary
An initial proof of this capability will be shown at the 20th anniversary of Munich Airport, where the MetaTwistTower will be in full operation. Alongside the messages of the first advertising clients Lufthansa, Eu-ropcar, and Audi, it will support the highlights of the four day programme such as the festivities for the anniversary, music acts, comedians, and sports events.
