3 Day Startup NYC Now Accepting Applications for November 22-24 Event
3 Day Startup (3DS) works with 40 university students and entrepreneurs in New York City area to launch a tech company in a weekend. Learning by doing is the inspirational driver behind 3DS' model.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2013 - 3DS, a global non-profit organization providing mentorship and guidance to young entrepreneurs seeking to start tech companies, is now accepting applications for the Fall 2013 event taking place November 22-24 in New York City. The deadline to submit applications is October 22 and only 40 participants will be accepted into the program.
The structure of the three day weekend is executed out of a rented space where approximately eight groups of five participants each work together, brainstorm, refine their ideas, create business strategies and marketing plans, develop their software, and demo their minimally viable prototype to investors on the last night of the program. The momentum and rapid pace of the event encourages entrepreneurs to sustain their companies beyond the event and release their product or service on the market.
3DS is looking for participants with a background in software engineering, business (marketing, finance, development), graphic design, advertising and PR, legal, and other wildcards with raw passion for tech startups. The two part selection process includes the first interview of candidates to assess their passion, ideas and research; if selected in the first round, the second process is to group participants into approximately eight groups of five participants each. Participants are required to participate in a 3-hour boot camp one week prior to the actual event to prepare them.
For the Fall 2012 event, over 200 applicants applied. "The culture of entrepreneurship is booming all around us" said Matthew King II, this years lead organizer of the fall NYC 3DS program. " We live in a world where talented individuals regardless of age or experience are venturing out on their own and creating thriving tech companies. Here at 3DS we provide an outlet for those people to get the help they need, high-level guidance, a peer network to fall back onto, and life-long mentorship to help them on their way."
Thus far 3DS has had over 70 events on 4 continents launched over 41 companies receiving $14.5 million in funding. For more info on these companies visit http://3daystartup.org/companies-founded-by-3ds-alumni.
