2nd Annual Puerto Rican Festival - "Celebrating the Discovery of Puerto Rico"
A festival in celebration of all things Puerto Rican.
- Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill, NC-SC (1888PressRelease) November 09, 2010 - The Puerto Rican Cultural Society of Charlotte will sponsor the Second Annual Puerto Rican Festival "Celebrating the Discovery of Puerto Rico" on November 20, 2010, from 1 pm to 7 pm. The event will be held on the Avenue de la Americas in Plaza Fiesta, Fort Mill, SC. Plaza Fiesta Carolinas indoor version of a traditional "Plaza" is the perfect setting for a street party atmosphere similar to those held in Old San Juan in Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rican Cultural Society of Charlotte invites everyone to come and experience the rich and colorful culture of the Island of Enchantment, Puerto Rico through a sampling of authentic food, music, arts and crafts by local Puerto Rican artists. Traditional and modern Puerto Rican music will be performed during the festival.
This year's event will feature performances by Orquesta Mayor, Levi - "La evolución del genero", Manny y Los Trabucos. The folkloric group Los Coquies de Charlotte which played together for the first time at last year's festival will once again bring the rhythms of the traditional Puerto Rican music to the stage. Also featured will be artists Lillian White and Lucas Rodriguez. Dance performances by Rodrigo and Wendy Jimenez of Charlotte Salsa, Alma de la Luna and the Carolina Latin Dance Company, a high energy Zumba performance by Queen City Dancing Queen and Puerto Rican poetry by Lydia Seary and Felix Lopez Morales.
