  • (1888PressRelease) December 13, 2022 - Hanukkah storytelling, STEAM activities for children, and a singing presentation will be featured at the 27th Hanukkah Celebration to be held 6:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Schnucks Ladue Crossing shopping center, I-170 at Ladue Road. The event will take place at the Barnes & Noble Booksellers.

    The Hanukkah Celebration will be emceed by Rabbi Shmuel Miller, head of school at the H.F. Epstein Hebrew Academy and features Hanukkah storytelling with master educator Mrs. Jackie Oppenheimer, and Hanukkah songs. The event will also feature STEAM activities for children.

    All children will receive a free gift of traditional Hanukkah chocolate “gelt” (gold coins). Hanukkah begins the evening of December 18 and is an eight-day celebration of the Festival of Lights commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple.

    The Hanukkah Celebration is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the friendly merchants at Schnucks Ladue Crossing including Schnucks, Barnes & Noble, Cobblestone Shoe Repair, Crown Optical, Great Clips, European Wax Center, Globe Cleaners, GOLFTEC, Ladue Nails, Mathnasium, MOD Pizza, Old Navy, Pac Dental, Pure Barre, Shake Shack, St. Luke's Urgent Care Center, Stretch Lab, The Joint, and Treats Unleashed.

    The event is hosted by The DESCO Group, the developer and property management company for the center.

    This is the 27th year for the Hanukkah Celebration at Schnucks Ladue Crossing inside Barnes and Noble Booksellers. The event was last held in 2019 and was cancelled for two years due to precautions regarding the pandemic. Students, faculty and staff from H.F. Epstein Hebrew Academy in St. Louis have participated in this ongoing event which is believed to be the first Hanukkah celebration open to the public in the St. Louis area.
