  • Fort Worth-Arlington, TX (1888PressRelease) May 17, 2024 - The 24th Annual Mother's Day Luncheon, a collaborative effort between Como Lions Heart, Richelle's Heart, and Opening Doors for Women in Need, was a resounding success, drawing a crowd of 350 and raising awareness for the vital contributions mothers make in the Fort Worth community.

Held on Saturday, May 11th at the Como Community Center, the event served as a beautiful tribute to 25 exceptional mothers. These remarkable women, often the unsung heroes in their families and communities, were celebrated for their dedication and perseverance. From fostering a loving home environment to volunteering their time and talents to make a difference, they exemplify the true spirit of motherhood.

“Mothers are the architects of our character,” said Kendra Williams, founder of Richelle's Heart. “Their unwavering love and strength provide a foundation for our personal growth and contribute significantly to a thriving community. We are honored to celebrate them on this special day.”

“The impact of mothers goes far beyond the walls of their homes,” said Carol Brown, founder of Como Lions Heart. “They are educators, mentors, and advocates. They inspire us to be better versions of ourselves and contribute to the betterment of society. This luncheon was a small token of our immense appreciation.”

The event wasn't just about recognition. It also fostered a deep sense of community and connection within Fort Worth's historic Lake Como neighborhood. Lake Como is a historically African-American community established in 1905 and is one of the city's oldest enclaves. Attendees enjoyed a delicious plated lunch and a delightful assortment of desserts provided by local bakery, A Sweet Taste. The event also featured 11 retail vendors showcasing their unique goods, adding a festive touch to the occasion.

Beyond the Celebration: A Call to Action
While the Mother's Day Luncheon served as a joyous function, it also highlighted the ongoing need to support the Lake Como community. Como Lions Heart, Richelle's Heart, and Opening Doors for Women in Need work tirelessly to empower and support Como families facing various challenges. Their efforts range from providing educational resources for children to offering critical support services to families in need.

The team behind the Mother's Day Luncheon is actively seeking sponsors who share their commitment to honoring mothers and empowering them to reach their full potential.
