"For Young Aviators with Big Dreams." The ultimate goal of Legacy Flight Academy is to instill into today's youth the character, competence, courage and commitment of the Tuskegee Airmen.
- Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) July 03, 2015 - Moton Field, the WWII training ground of the heroic Tuskegee Airmen, hosts another spectacular Fly-In, from 10AM-3PM, Friday, July 24, 2015. Visitors can enjoy Sky Soldiers www.armyav.org helicopter flights, and sky diving demos, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) presentations by Universal Elite Aerospace www.universalelite.org, site tours, civil and military aircraft displays, information on various college programs and other interactive activities. Students, pilots and aviation enthusiasts from across the region are expected to attend.
The Legacy Flight Academy (LFA) www.LegacyFlightAcademy.org, will conduct an Open House in conjunction with the Fly-In. Visitors are invited to explore this unique two-week training program which offers minority and at-risk youth from underserved communities an opportunity to experience flying and explore careers as future aviation professionals. Golden Eagle Aviation (GEA) www.goldeneagleaviation.com and Middle Georgia State College www.mga.edu/aviation have developed a flight training program coupled with a character-building curriculum centered on the Tuskegee Airmen Legacy. The Academy's goal is to reverse the decreasing numbers of minorities entering careers in commercial and military aviation.
To cover the remaining goal of $30,000 in program expenses (e.g., field trips, flight training, fuel, room, board, and classroom instruction), Legacy Flight Academy, a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, is seeking donations to ensure that the Tuskegee Airmen Legacy not merely survives, but thrives. These tax deductible contributions can be made online at www.LegacyFlightAcademy.org/lfa2015/contributions/.
Individual donors and corporate partners have been very supportive and believe our youth are a worthwhile investment. Auburn University is providing housing for the students, and Middle Georgia State University is providing two new airplanes for the program.
The ultimate goal of Legacy Flight Academy is to instill into today's youth the character, competence, courage and commitment of the Tuskegee Airmen.
