2013 ASNT Conference Presenter is Laboratory Testing Inc. NDT Employee
Laboratory Testing Inc. nondestructive testing employee, Phil Trach, is a scheduled presenter for the 2013 ASNT Annual Conference planned for November. Phil has been employed with Laboratory Testing since 2005 as NDT Technical Coordinator and is a mechanical engineer.
- (1888PressRelease) August 16, 2013 - HATFIELD, PA - Phil Trach, NDT Technical Coordinator at Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI), is scheduled to make a presentation at the 2013 ASNT Fall Conference. The Conference is coordinated by The American Society for Nondestructive Testing and will run from November 4-7, 2013 at the Las Vegas Rio Hotel. Phil will discuss his paper titled "Introducing Visitors to NDT: A Universal Template for Constructing Clear and Concise NDT Method Descriptions" at 4PM on November 7th.
The subject matter of the presentation will provide solutions for general audiences who have misconceptions about nondestructive testing. Phil Trach explains, "NDT methods can get very convoluted and the processes are not always easy for people to understand. I have created a universal template for any NDT process. You just fill in the blanks and you will receive a one paragraph dissemination". Trach also notes that his method is different from others because he uses the energy source, rather than the equipment, to support his information.
As NDT Technical Coordinator at Laboratory Testing Inc., Phil's responsibilities include developing and integrating new technology, expanding nondestructive testing capabilities, and maximizing the reliability and efficiency of NDT services. He is also an ASNT NDT Level III for ultrasonic testing, an approved NDT MIL-STD-2132 Examiner in immersion and contact ultrasonic testing and a Pratt & Whitney certified SIM Level 3. Prior to joining LTI in 2005, Phil held positions at Specialty Ring Products and Custom Alloy in engineering, testing and quality assurance. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University.
ABOUT Laboratory Testing Inc.
Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI) of Hatfield, PA has been in business since 1984. The company specializes in metal testing, polymer testing, nondestructive testing, material testing and analysis, specimen machining, failure analysis, dimensional inspection and calibration services. LTI is PRI/Nadcap accredited and is A2LA accredited to ISO/IEC 17025, which complies with and exceeds the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485. Mechanical, chemical, metallurgical, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, X-ray and hydrostatic pressure testing are performed on metals and alloys found in fasteners, tubular products, bars, plates and castings and some plastics. Hardness testing, tensile testing, FTIR analysis and EDS analysis are performed on polymeric materials. The chemistry lab also analyzes powdered metals, ores, ferroalloys, composites and ceramics.
LTI has the capabilities to test metals and other materials for strength and durability, flaws and defects and to determine material composition and susceptibility to corrosion. Failure analysis testing can be performed to determine the root cause of an unexpected failure in a product or part designed to operate under specific service conditions. A detailed report explains the cause of the failure and can provide information on preventing future occurrences. LTI's Machine Shop prepares test specimens for mechanical testing, including charpy V-notch, tensile, fracture toughness and stress rupture tests. All specimen machining is performed with computerized numerical control (CNC) equipment in accordance with ASTM A-370, ASTM E-8 or ASTM E-23 requirements and customer specifications.
The calibration lab, LTI Metrology, provides dimensional, pressure, force, torque, temperature, electrical, mass and vacuum calibration services for hand tools, gages, standards and other measuring instruments and equipment. LTI also offers on-site calibration service for surface plates, optical comparators, hardness testers, scales, hand tools, and testing machines and performs oven uniformity surveys. LTI supplies new gages, tools and replacement parts up request, and instrument repairs are available. Information on LTI services and accreditations is provided at www.labtesting.com or from sales ( @ ) labtesting dot com.
