Only a few weeks out, the stage is being built as we speak in anticipation of huge galleries, great food, live entertainment and tons of people watching all while being in an incredible intimate golf setting. There is no better time of year for Scottsdale residents and visitors.

This year's Phoenix Open field is taking shape with some of Golf's biggest names returning including 11 of the top-30 and 75 of the top-125 money leaders from the 2011 season committed. A field of 132 players will vie for the $6.1 million purse, the $1,098,000 first-place check and FedEx Cup points.

While the actual Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament will be played Thursday - Sunday (February 2-5), there will still be plenty of things to see and do at the TPC Scottsdale all week long. Many of the PGA TOUR pros will play morning practice rounds leading up to the tournament.

This years sponsor, Waste Management, has quickly turned the "Greatest Show on Grass" into the "Greenest Show on Grass" by incorporating a tournament-wide recycling and waste reduction program.
