2- day Film Festival @ Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata ignited creativity among the youth
The photography society "Pravasana" of student's council of Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, had organized a "Film Festival" in association with Satyajit Ray Film Institute, on 19th and 20th February, 2011 in the campus.

Encouraging this thought, the photography society "Pravasana" of Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata, organized a "Film Festival" in association with Satyajit Ray Film Institute on 19th and 20th february, 2011 form 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The inauguration of this festival was done by Prof. Amarendra Chakraborty, Head of the Department, Satyajit Ray Film Institute along with Mr. Bappaditya Bandhopadhyay, eminent photographer, Tollywood. The opening ceremony started with lighting up of lamp by the chief guests and the senor officials of Kalyan Bharti Trust, Mr. Probir Roy, the Exectuive Director, Mr. Pradip Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer, Kalyan Bharti Trust and Prof. B.B. Paira, the Director of Heritage Institute of Technology. In the opening ceremony, Mr. Bappaditya, eminent photographer, commented that films depict real life incidents of a person and it has all the collection of different branches of study, arts, commerce and science. It also enlightens the creativity and innovative minds of the people in the Digital Economy.
Apart from this, Chief Guest Prof. Amarendra Chakraborty, from Satyajit Ray Film Institute, Kolkata, commented that film studies poses a great career opportunity for the youths of India. Today, there is a rapid increase in the participation of India youths towards film studies especially budding engineers. It was a magnificient event and Heritage Institute of Technology, was the first engineering college in West Bengal, to organize such event which ignites young minds towards creativity and innovation. Award winning films in Italy, English, Bengali, French etc. was been shown and among the prominent ones were the Bicycle thief, Circle, Motorcycle diaries, the Class, Ritwik Ghatak's Ajantrik and many more. More than 100 participants from different colleges across Kolkata participated in this mega film festival
