The 2012 Mustang Dream Giveaway that's ready to launch on Nov. 1, 2011 features a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang that was on display at the Lingenfelter Collection Museum for the last four years. The car was showcased in front of more than a million auto enthusiasts at the 17th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise.
- Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) August 30, 2011 - More than a million auto enthusiasts and 40,000 classic cars attended the 17th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise -- the world's largest one-day annual auto event -- which took place on Birmingham's Woodward Avenue on Aug. 20, 2011. At the event, Dream Giveway -- an organization that runs sweepstakes to raise funds for deserving charities -- showed off a 1967 Shelby GT500 museum piece, which is one half of the prize package to be given away through its its upcoming 2012 Mustang Dream Giveaway®.
Mark Breiner and Pat Meehan, CEO and President of Dream Giveaway (respectively), were personally invited by Ford Motor Company to showcase the Shelby at the event. Ford executives were the first to get a peek at the 1967 Shelby GT500 during a private showing at Woodward Dream Cruise.
Once the 2012 Mustang Dream Giveaway is launched on Nov. 1, 2011, people can enter the sweepstakes to win the Shelby GT500 and a specially equipped 2012 Shelby GT500. Both cars in the two-car prize pack are finished in black and accented with red racing stripes. Until recently, the 1967 Shelby GT500 was on display for four years at the Lingenfelter Collection Museum in Brighton, Mich. It's a very valuable, fully restored Ford and one for which many auto enthusiasts pine.
"The 2012 Shelby GT500 should not be overlooked," said Meehan. "It's just as perfect looking as its older brother; but meaner and faster!"
The 2012 Mustang Dream Giveaway will replace the 2011 Mustang Dream Giveaway, which ended July 4, 2011 and was won by 24-year-old Thomas Barker. Barker took the keys of his two-Mustang prize pack -- a 1969 Boss 302 and 2012 Patriot Edition Boss 302 -- during a ceremony held Aug. 7, 2011 at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Mich.
Photos and videos from the award ceremony are posted on the Dream Giveaway's Facebook, Twitter and Youtube webpages. You can also learn how to win two Porsche vehicles or two Corvettes from Dream Giveaway by visiting
