Get ready for the Delhi Book Fair!

The 17th Edition of the Delhi Book Fair will be held from 27 August 2011 to 4 September 2011 in the Hall of Special Displays with state-of-the-art facilities at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The theme of the upcoming Fair is "Tour & Travell Industry". It is jointly organized by the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) & The Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP). The Book Fair is aimed at inculcating and encouraging reading habits especially among children and youths. The organizers expect 5 Lakh visitors this year. 300 Indian and foreign publishers are participating in the 17th Delhi Book Fair.
The exhibition showcases books, magazines, teaching aids, maps, and computer software. Delhi Book fair brings together sophisticated works and recent editions published in India.
On display at the fair books will be available on education, academic, fiction, non-fiction, literature, children's books, dictionaries and encyclopedias) periodicals, magazines, journals, teaching aids and computer software. Added attractions are the two concurrent fairs Stationary Fair which would display a wide range of stationery items, including writing instruments, home and office stationery, computer accessories like floppies, paper, ribbons, printing cartridges and educational aids.
The Indian book market is truly vibrant with over 16,000 publishers and 30,000 bookshops besides multi-national publishing companies like Oxford University Press, Macmillan, Penguin, Haper Collins, Random House, Hachette, Picador and Rutledge Harvard Business Publishing, who along with Indian publishers bring out around 70,000 titles per annum. Hindi records highest number of titles published every year, while 30 per cent of all books are published in English. The other major languages of publication are Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Marathi and Tamil. And there are 16 other official languages in which a large number of publications are published.
