1717 Reported Cases of Water Damages

Cloudbursts in Copenhagen (the capital of Denmark) led to a record high number of calls about water damages to the Danish rescue company Falck. People all over the country are taking precautions again extreme weather. End Quote

(1888PressRelease) July 23, 2011 - The heavy rain fell Saturday, and soon after water was filling basements of houses and other buildings. By Monday Falck was still getting calls as people turning up for work where met by the unpleasant site of office buildings and institutions damaged by water.

The last couple of days have been hectic for Falck, who since Saturday night has received a total of 1717 calls on water damage in the capital area.

The last time Falck was kept this busy because of water damages were August last year, where the capital area was affected by large quantities of water, while other parts of Denmark experienced regular cloudbursts. That time Falck had to move out to around 1200 cases of water damage over five days.

More and More Take Precautions against Rough Weather

The many rain storms have also meant that the demand for help to secure private homes against the rough weather has increased significantly.

More than 2500 home owners have since May invested in the new subscription for Falck HomeRescue (Falck BoligRedning), where you get your basement drained and your home dehumidified, once the damage has been done, and help to prevent it from ever happening.

"We experience that more and more home owners want help, before the damage is done. And many damages can actually mended before the develop and become a hazard to people and animals or cause permanent damage to your home" says Jens Lunn, marketing director for Falck.

One initiative is a text message service featuring weather reports with specific advice for home owners, insuring that precautions can be taken to secure their homes according to the specific forecast.
