14th Annual Kayaking Journey by Castaways Against Cancer Kicks Off June 8th
The Castaways Against Cancer gather for their 14th annual kayaking adventure in support of the American Cancer Society.
- Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) May 30, 2013 - Castaways Against Cancer, a group of kayaking enthusiasts who paddle from Miami to Key West every year in support of the American Cancer Society, will be launching their 14th annual adventure, "The Trip Around the Sun Tour." Sixteen kayakers will shove off from Virginia Key, on the south side of Rickenbacker Causeway, just northwest of the Miami Seaquarium on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 6:30 a.m.
Since their first trip in 2000, and starting with just four paddlers in two kayaks, Castaways Against Cancer has raised more than $350,000 for cancer research.
This year TotalBank will be teaming up with the Castaways to help them reach their goal of raising $50,000. Averaging more than 22 miles a day, the Castaways will paddle a total of 160 miles during the seven-day journey. The team will arrive on the shore of Casa Marina in Key West around 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14.
