  • Colorado Springs, CO (1888PressRelease) October 15, 2024 - 1350 Distilling, a Colorado Springs Marine veteran-owned craft distillery announces plans for their Annual Birthday Ceremony for the United States Marine Corps’ 249th birthday. This celebration will take place on Sunday, November 10th from 4pm to 7pm at 1350 Distilling, 520 E. Pikes Peak Avenue in downtown Colorado Springs.

Local food truck, Turk-N-Stuff will be on-site again this year, selling their traditional turkey legs and other food offerings. Hello Sunshine Creatives is providing festive balloons and decorations as in previous years as well.

Since opening their doors to the public in November 2019, 1350 Distilling has honored the Marine Corps each year with this traditional birthday celebration. Saturday, November 9th is also the distillery’s five year anniversary so the weekend will be packed with festivities.
The Marine Corps Birthday Ceremony is full of traditions, including the cutting of the birthday cake. The first piece goes to the guest of honor. The second piece goes to the oldest Marine present who takes a bite and passes it to the youngest Marine present. This symbolizes the passing of tradition from the old to the young. This year's guest speaker is Colonel (Ret) Mike Frazier.

Past ceremonies have honored local Marine legend, Mt. Carmel Veteran Services Founder and Board Member, the late Gerald D. (Jay) Cimino.

At 1350 Distilling, each bottled spirit is dedicated to a different branch of the military or our first responder. In 2020 they released their Leatherneck Rye Whiskey (90 Proof / 45% ABV) at the 245th USMC Birthday Celebration. This year, a very limited edition bottle of “My Rye-ful Whiskey” will be released for purchase. Thanks to the assistance of Mash Mechanix Brewing Co., this 100% Rye (100 Proof / 50% ABV) whiskey has been aging for two years awaiting this special occasion.

This special event is open free to the public, offering a unique experience few people outside the Marine Corps have had. 1350 Distilling invites all to join in the festivities.
