  • Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) August 06, 2010 - NVNA and Hospice is pleased to announce its 12th Annual Charity Golf Tournament raised $87,000 to support important community service and education programs for area patients and caregivers on Boston's South Shore. The tournament is the agency's largest fundraising event, with proceeds helping NVNA and Hospice underwrite the cost of the free and low cost care it provides to the 25 communities it serves from Milton to Plymouth.

The sold out event took place July 26, 2010 at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston MA. One hundred and fifty golfers played Indian Pond's championship course and more than 200 attendees overall enjoyed the gala dinner and silent auction. Area businesses and patrons donated 81 silent auction items, 10 live auction items and 12 raffle prizes. The evening's big winner was John Iannucci of Plymouth who won the top raffle prize: a week-long stay at the historic Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA with airfare for two on Jet Blue and a one week car rental from Avis.

"We're pleased and humbled by the turnout and generosity of the golfers, auction attendees, donors and volunteers who participated in this year's tournament," said Meg Doherty, CEO and executive director, NVNA and Hospice. "We're so fortunate to have the faithful support of our dedicated patrons and surrounding communities, and that's never more apparent than at our annual charity golf tournament. In return, we promise to uphold our commitment to provide superior care and education to those in need."

The tournament committee was comprised of many dedicated patrons who help with the tournament each year. In addition, 30 volunteers staffed the event helping organize the golfers, arrange for photos, award prizes, and coordinate the auction.

In 2009, NVNA and Hospice gave nearly $1.4 million in free and underfunded care to the 25 communities it serves through community health screenings, educational forums and programs, local support groups, and patient care. NVNA and Hospice provides Medicare-certified home health care and hospice services and a myriad of community-based programs, funded in large part through fundraisers and charitable activities.

Currently celebrating its 90th year of service, NVNA and Hospice maintains a reputation for providing cost-effective, exceptional services with innovation and integrity. For more information about NVNA and Hospice and the valuable services the agency provides, please visit www.nvna.org.
