12th Annual Calgary Jewish Film Festival
The Calgary Beth Tzedec Congregation is pleased to announce their line-up for the 12trh Annual Calgary Jewish Film Festival.
- (1888PressRelease) October 22, 2012 - We're proud, one again, to bring you an exciting line-up of outstanding films and special guests. Exploring a range of themes as diverse as the Jewish experience itself, we hope that this year's selection of award-winning and critically acclaimed films will move and inspire you, entertain and delight you, enlighten and challenge you.
Among our special guests this year, we are delighted to welcome Tamar Tal, the writer/director of our Opening Night film, the multi-award-winning Life in Stills, and Ben Peter, the subject of that film; Neta Zwebner-Zaibert, the producer of the film Numbered; Bernice Steinhardt, co-founder and President of the Art & Remembrance organization, whose mother is the subject of the film Through the Eye of the Needle; Roberta Grossman, the producer/director of Hava Nagila (The Movie); and Dr. Bernard S. Goldman, chair of Save a Child's Heart Canada, who will be speaking following the film Israel Inside.
We are extremely pleased to have Calgary Jewish Federation join us as co-sponsors of the screening of the film Israel Inside, and as co-sponsors of the Canadian Premiere of the film Numbered, which will be screened as part of our community-wide Kristallnacht commemoration. This year's "Ralph Gurevitch Tikkun Olam Screening" of the film Besa: The Promise, is also being presented in co-operation with Calgary Jewish Federation.
We feel honored by The Jewish Historical Society of Southern Alberta's choice of our film festival, once again, as the venue for their Jay Joffe Memorial Program. JHSSA will be co-sponsoring the screening of Dressing America: Tales from the Garment Center. And we're delighted that Rimon Calgary, a chapter of the Pomegranate Guild of Judaic Needlework, will be co-sponsoring the screening of Through the Eye of the Needle.
In addition to the artwork of Lilly Rosenberg, Bezalel, a group of local Jewish artists, will also have their art on display throughout the festival. And the JCC's Jewish Book Fair will also be there with a selection of books.
About the Calgary Beth Tzedec - At the Beth Tzedec Calgary Conservative Shul in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, you will find passion, warmth, comfort and celebration. We believe deeply in life long learning, the importance of prayer and the presence of God in our lives, and the Jewish vision of repairing the world.
