  • (1888PressRelease) July 05, 2011 - Parker, a successful Australian corporate executive based in Hong Kong, set up the non-profit organisation, Wheel2Wheel, to raise awareness and provide financial assistance to ten brilliant, under-recognised charitable organisations throughout Asia and Australia - one in each country of the route.

On 1 March 2011, Parker set off on this expedition, riding his trusty BMW F800GS motorbike through some of the region's most beautiful and challenging terrain, dangerous territories and harsh climatic conditions. He has travelled 25,000 km through Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Timor-Leste and finally his native Australia, filming a television series to document the journey and bring attention to the work of Wheel2Wheel's charitable partners.

Parker, a Brisbane native grew up in Ashgrove and attended Brisbane Boys College. He finished Brisbane Boys College in 1991 and completed a law degree from Bond University in 1994. He forged a career in real estate development and investment banking throughout the Asia-Pacific region working for Macquarie, Lend Lease, Morgan Stanley and most recently as President of US-listed real estate company Taubman Asia. Wheel2Wheel was born of his desire to find a more active and engaged approach to philanthropy, combined with a personal goal of completing a transcontinental motorcycle adventure. After committing himself to this endeavour, two years of intensive planning and preparation and 125 days of riding later, the dream has become an epic and hard-won reality.

On Monday, 4 July at 12 noon, the inaugural Wheel2Wheel expedition will cross the finish line in central Brisbane. Local motorbike riders, fans, family and supporters will meet Morgan in Toowoomba and ride with him for the final leg home through the city of Brisbane, culminating in a ceremonial finish at Sage on Ann café. Join us here for the arrival celebration, press conference and photo call from 11.30 AM.
