1 Indie Label, 16 Bands, 3 Showcases During CMJ Week, And You're Invited
BHi Music Group Host Red Door Final Shows, Honoring Giorgio Gomelsky & Showcasing 16 emerging acts "From The Rabbit Hole". BHi Music Group label act, AM Aesthetic Album Release Party.
- (1888PressRelease) October 17, 2014 - New indie record label, BHi Music Group, enters CMJ Week with a boatload of news, and three showcases.
First up, the label is hosting a two day/two night showcase "Behind The Red Door" at the legendary Red Door venue October 21 and October 22, 4PM to midnight, with 16 bands. The showcase features some of the 22 young New York-based acts it curated over more than a year for its first release, "From The Rabbit Hole," a multi-genre singles compilation now out digitally and releasing on vinyl on 10/28/14 (distributed by Caroline/Universal). Says Dick Wingate, BHiMG's president, "We had a hard time selecting which [From The] Rabbit Hole acts could fit on the two-date bill. We couldn't stretch resources further, so we matched availability to slots and the chips fell. We believe in each of the acts to make great tracks, and the 15 acts will well-represent the whole of the compilation. Yes, I said 15 - the 16th act is The Stone Foxes, a guest performing act in town, to show the connectedness of the underground, rising acts across our country."
The exciting showcase comes with a bittersweet note: Giorgio Gomelsky, the venue's famed founder, is officially stepping out of Red Door. With this announcement, the label feels honored to dedicate the showcase to Mr. Gomelsky, a man who spent his entire career helping the emerging artist (who, of course, later became Jeff Buckley, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, et.al.).
"Behind The Red Door" will apparently go out with a bang. Not only will the showcase host back-to-back bands to keep the space jumping, but it is sponsored in part by The Bronx Brewery: CMJ badgeholders will get in free; during the day shows, get a free blueberry mimosa shot; and at night get free Bronx Pale Ale. The fans and public will party it up too with a $5.00 door, $5.00 drink tickets, and the first 25 paid guests to day or night shows get a free drink ticket. Moreover, yet-unannounced, special guests and friends of Mr. Gomelsky are expected to attend.
Next up, on the first day of the showcase, October 21, one of BHiMG's acts, AM Aesthetic will also be celebrating the release of "Future Tense," their debut album with a full 45-minute set smack in the middle of the showcase.
Last up, BHiMG is co-hosting another showcase "The Climax Showcase" on October 25 at The Cutting Room, where both of their roster acts, AM Aesthetic and Jon and the Jones, will bookend the other acts appearing: Fenech-Soler, Fifth of Bourbon and The Stone Foxes. This showcase has the latest show on the very last day of CMJ - opening and closing the week with music, celebration and a tribute to one of the men who helped give us some of the best musical acts in history, Giorgio Gomelsky.
