Spina Bifida is the most frequently occurring, permanently disabling birth defect in the United States. It occurs when there is an incomplete formation of the spine during the first stages of fetal development and often results in partial paralysis, bowel and bladder incontinence, skin sensitivity, hydrocephalus, and a myriad of other cognitive, developmental, and physical challenges in varying degrees.
The Spina Bifida Resource Network is the only organization solely dedicated to the thousands of individuals and families living with Spina Bifida in New Jersey, Metro New York and Orange and Sullivan counties of New York.
