“Voices of Shaping Our Future” Podcast Now Available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts
The Center for Deliberative Democracy at Stanford University launches second season of podcast series.
- San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) September 03, 2021 - On September 17, 2021, The Center for Deliberative Democracy at Stanford University (CDD), in partnership with the Berggruen Institute, the Haas Center for Public Service at Stanford University, and Tobe Agency, will launch the second season of the “America in One Room” podcast series that debuted earlier this year in March. In season two, the focus will be on the CDD’s “Shaping Our Future“ virtual event that brought together more than 600 young adults from across the United States to discuss a myriad of policy proposals, including those related to the minimum wage debate, President Biden’s Civilian Climate Corps, and Electoral College reform. The CDD’s previous event — “America in One Room” — garnered national attention from major news outlets, like the The New York Times and CNN, and was even talked about by former President Barack Obama on Twitter.
The second season of the podcast series — entitled Voices of Shaping Our Future — consists of follow-up interviews with more than one dozen participants who attended the virtual event. Additionally, this season will feature two different roundtable discussions, one of which highlights the Berggruen Institute’s Youth Environment Service campaign, also known as YES (https://www.berggruen.org/news/berggruen-institute-launches-youth-environment-service-yes-campaign-with-deliberative-assembly-of-regional-youth/), and another that focuses solely on economic policy and the inequality debate here in the United States.
Following a similar formula to season one of the “America In One Room” podcast, the focus of season two will center around the same topics discussed during the “Shaping Our Future” event in May 2021 (https://cdd.stanford.edu/2021/deliberation-in-schools-shaping-our-future/). Topics of focus include economic inequality, climate change, national service, and the electoral college.
