"The Rose of Tralee International Festival" held at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi, March, 2017: The Rose of Tralee International Festival is one of Ireland's largest and longest running festivals, celebrating 58 years in 2017.
- (1888PressRelease) March 17, 2017 - The heart of the festival is the selection of the Rose of Tralee which brings young women of Irish descent from around the world to County Kerry, Ireland for a global celebration of Irish culture.
Abu Dhabi saw the first of this year's "Rose" selections that took place recently at the luxurious Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi in their spacious Onyx ballroom. There were 10 contestants who participated in the competition. Each of the contestants were accompanied by an escort at the event and the evening was hosted by Irish MC Gari Deegan. The selection process was rigorous and included individual and group interviews in advance as well as the onstage interviews and performances. The judging panel consisted of Mrs. Pauline Hennessy (Wife of the Irish Ambassador to the UAE), Ms. Sinead McCarthy and Mr. Desmond Hatton (General Manager of Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi).
Ms. Niamh Kelly was selected as the Abu Dhabi representative for 2017. She moved to Abu Dhabi in August of 2016 and enjoys working in Cleveland Clinic.
Attendees on the night were treated to an unmatched entertainment and an array of performances from the contestants, besides enjoying a sumptuous dinner at the Dusit Thani. Special Guests on the night included H.E. Mr. Patrick Hennessy (Irish ambassador to the UAE), Mr. Declan Hegarty (President of the Abu Dhabi Irish Society), and Ms. Noeleen Saeed (Head of the Irish Business Council).
