  • (1888PressRelease) June 12, 2011 - Stayner, ON - A devastating fire on February 5th, 2010 completely destroyed a building which had stood in this small Ontario community since 1864. The proprietor of Jean & Dianne's Barbershop decided to rebuild their business lighting it entirely with energy-efficient LED lighting.

The barber shop is entirely lit by LED lighting as is the adjoining toy store as well as the upstairs residence of the owners. It is the first building in Simcoe County entirely lit with LED lights.

Since the fire was caused by electrical failure, proprietor Dianne Richardson felt it was important to utilize low voltage lighting and also avoid the high heat generated by halogen lamps. She is also thrilled with the savings she has realized in regard to her monthly power bills. "Prior to the fire, my hydro bills were in excess of $400.00 monthly. Now my hydro bill for the 2 stores is $66.00 per month and the residential area is approximately $80.00 per month."

Barry Burton, of Burton Lighting Network oversaw the LED lighting project and used a variety of LED lighting carefully customized to each separate lighting requirement of the new building. "This speaks to the advancements we have made in LED lighting the past several years. We are now able to light every aspect of a residence or business using only LED lights. We couldn't do this 5 years ago. Now we can", stated Burton.

In crafting this state-of-the-art lighting project, Burton utilized several products including his personally-designed T8 LED tubes. In addition, he implemented outdoor stainless steel fixtures, track lighting and linear LED fixtures.
