The local branch of an international humanitarian movement with over 400 branches in 40 countries. As a non-religious, non-profit organization, Samaritans are devoted to helping those people who are in crisis and feeling suicidal through volunteer-run programs. The organization beat out a number of charities that sent in applications for the chosen spot. The silent auction is compliments of Grand Stand Sports and also includes items such as front row tickets to "The Wendy Williams Show" and more.

"One of the key deciding factors was the fact that National Suicide Prevention Week falls very close to Fashion Week and will run from September 5th to September 11th 2010", states of A. Mercedes -Benz Fashion Week is one of the world's premier fashion events taking place in New York City each September.
