- (1888PressRelease) September 30, 2011 - The Spina Bifida Resource Network is hosting its fourth annual Taste for Empowerment at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center on October 27th at 6 p.m. This year's event will honor the work of Dr. Kenneth Glassberg, director of the Division of Pediatric Urology and professor of urology at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. In addition, the Division of Pediatric Urology at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital at Columbia University Medical Center will receive the fist-ever Spina Bifida Resource Network (SBRN) Synergy award for its work with the spina bifida community.
"We're excited to bring this successful event to Manhattan," said SBRN Executive Director Julia McConnell, "Dr. Glassberg and his team are making a difference in the lives of children and families with spina bifida. We share a passion for working with this community and we're delighted to recognize that spirit."
The Taste for Empowerment for Spina Bifida will feature an exotic sampling of gourmet food, wines and liquors; a jazz performance by BD Lenz and a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the Spina Bifida Resource Network, a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit which delivers direct family support and one of the nation's only organizations to provide nursing and case management. Spina Bifida is the most frequently occurring, permanently disabling birth defect in the United States.
