"Sparkling" Hair Accessory Company Sees Record Growth
HairFlairs™ Dazzle Oprah Show audience, leading to "high fives" from Oprah and high volume sales.
- (1888PressRelease) February 10, 2011 - "Sparkling" hair, a trend that originated in Asia, is fast growing in popularity and in revenue in the U.S. -- HairFlairs™ -- launched by two savvy business women - one a single mother roller derby queen (Trina Marr) and the other, a former 911 dispatcher from Florida who grew up in a trailer park (Hana Johnson). These tinsel-like hair extensions were spotted on Beyonce at last year's Grammy awards and dazzled the Oprah Winfrey Show audience in January. Their sparkle is spreading quickly and now -- showing up on women from coast to coast, adding highly-affordable dazzle and self-confidence to the women who wear them.
HairFlairs™, a system of "bling" hair extensions, is run by CEO Hana Johnson, who launched the company in 2009 with HairFlairs Canada Manager, Trina Marr. HairFlairs has already generated more than $400K in gross revenue. The dazzling hair accessory line has been sold to more than 9,000 hair stylists in the U.S. and Canada and 24 different countries. Johnson grew the company to 14 employees and exhibits at more than 15 trade shows annually, where the product is selling rapidly.
On the January 28th Oprah appearance, Marr proudly wore Sparkle Gold HairFlairs, prompting the media icon to comment on them (and even touch Marr's hair!)
Says Johnson, "Both Trina and I have "rags-to-riches" stories. We were raised by single mothers and are self-made entrepreneurs. But we also know that every woman likes a little "light" in her life for special occasions, which is why I launched HairFlairs."
She added, "When we finally got our 'Oprah moment,' we knew we had created something special and look forward to expanding the business and our distribution and becoming one of the few women-owned businesses that achieve more than $1 million in annual revenue."
