"Save Me A Place" - New Single By Daniel Link On May 11
Featuring Vince Bell & Catfish Hodge. From The Forthcoming CD "Book Of Shadows".
- Santa Fe, NM (1888PressRelease) May 11, 2012 - Save Me A Place, the first single from Daniel Link's forthcoming CD "Book of Shadows", releases this Friday, May 11. The single features guest vocal performances from Grammy Noninated Vince Bell and the legendary Catfish Hodge; produced by Santa Fe's own Jono Manson (John Popper, Crystal Bowersox). The single is a special, alternative mix from the CD version.
Daniel Link relocated to Santa Fe from Austin, Texas in 2010 and has been touring exclussively with singer songwriter Vince Bell as Bell's sideman. But over the fall and winter Link began planning his return to the studio to record his first solo CD in seven years. Link has long been known for his mystical lyric content framed in his southern rock musical style, and "Book of Shadows" brings the artist's unique approach into focus like never before. The first half of the new CD takes the listener on an introspective journey as Link explores and defines his personal boundries. The CD picks up steam and groove at the midpoint as Link explores sex, obsession and relationships. "Save Me A Place" resides in this second act of "Book of Shadows".
The only song on "Book of Shadows" not penned by Link, "Save Me A Place" serves as a companion song to the track "The Spell", while also paying homage to the band that inspired Link to become a songwriter. Origanly appearing on Fleetwood Mac's 1979 release "Tusk", the song was writen by Lindsey Buckingham and is for the most part considered a lesser, obscure cut from the band's otherwise vast catalog of classic hits. Daniel's take on "Save Me A Place" brings the song into 2012 with a wall of acoustic guitars, more tempo and a hooky Fender solo backed with 4 part harmonies supplied by Vince Bell and Catfish Hodge. "I knew we were onto something after we layered all the guitar parts onto the track…but what pushed it to the front as a lead single were the vocal parts Catfish and Vince did. I knew it was great. Jono was reluctant to make it the first single simply because I'm a singer songwriter and we have plenty of my own songs to choose from to release first…but the thing that I stand by is that "Save Me A Place" IS my song…we made it a Daniel Link song, not a faithful Fleetwood Mac cover."
