"By now she didn't know what to think, however Mr Gould solved that issue for her by standing up and pulling her close towards him, at the same time saying, "You'll do well here. I know you will. Welcome, my child." He hugged her tightly, running her hands up and down her back, cupping and squeezing her buttocks as he did so.

Aimee froze! She felt confused. She had led such a sheltered life with her father, who hardly ever showed her any physical affection openly. The only men she had ever been around socially, so to speak, were the church members. Mr Gould was one of them, but neither he nor any of the others had embraced her in this way before.

She was unsure how to react. Did it really happen? Was she over-reacting? Perhaps she imagined a more intimate contact had occurred and if she now said or reacted the wrong way, she may offend poor Mr Gould, who was just showing kindness.
