- (1888PressRelease) February 08, 2017 - "Me and My Bully" by Gemma Sarsfield (ISBN #978-1910394960) About the Book: "Me and My Bully" is a true story about an individual's fight to gain control and autonomy over her ADHD, OCD and self-harming, conditions which so frequently resulted in feelings of despair, helplessness and the belief that suicide was the only solution.
Experience Gemma's journey as she shows you the 'mountains' she climbed and 'storms' she survived simply to realise that searching for a solution was not the answer, what she should have been searching for were strategies.
Do you face challenges in your life? Do you know someone else who faces challenges in their life? If so, maybe you will find strategies in here that could help you or others. When in despair, anything positive or productive is worth a shot; you have nothing to lose from trying but everything to gain.
Excerpt from the Book:
"Following 4 years of college I left for university where I stayed in halls for my first year. It was at this point in my life my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) really came to the surface, as far as I was concerned though I was living my life just as everyone else did. My room was spotless - I always made sure of that. No-one could come in as they would contaminate it. If the odd person did come in, temporarily, (a very rare occurrence as I went to others rooms instead) they could not wear their shoes and they had to sit on the floor; not on my bed or on my chair. This only happened once anyway! Most of my spare time was spent in the gym or sports hall. I kept my pots in my room, as I did not want to contaminate them from germs in the kitchen. When they were used I washed them immediately and put them straight back in my room before eating my tea, which would end up cold by the time I had washed up, in my room, alone….
….I was to embark on a journey I would never have anticipated. Thus, it was the start of a journey consisting of some of my toughest trials which so frequently saw me on the brink of suicide. I truly hope that the story I am about to share with you will motivate and maybe even inspire others who are facing the similar challenges to stay strong and persist. The road towards recovery is long, bumpy and contains many hurdles but it does get better. I can promise you that. You may not always see the destination during the journey but eventually the fog does lift and you end up arriving. So, sit tight, my journey is about to start. Welcome to my world and enjoy the ride!"
