"LPU can be among top 100 Universities of the World": AICTE Chairman
Invoked LPU Faculty Members to keep on imparting 21stCentury technology advancements to their students.
- (1888PressRelease) May 18, 2016 - Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Prof Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe visited Lovely Professional University today and delivered inspirational messages to LPU faculty & staff members to lead India to be number one in the world. Anticipating LPU and 19 more government and private universities of India to be among top 100 Universities of the world, Prof Sahasrabudhe invoked all to keep on imparting 21stCentury technology advancements to the students. He was Chief Guest on the inauguration of New Human Resource Development (HRD) Center at LPU. The center is opened by the university to provide world class training to staff-members. During his two- hour witty address, he kept audience enthralled through his intellectual thoughts and foresightedness. Appreciating LPU as truly professional university in diverse aspects, he also advised LPU faculty to develop certain courses for the benefit of the society.
Talking about higher education in India, AICTE Chairman informed: "No doubt, we have made great strides, but we're still significantly lacking on world level. There are many major challenges before us, but nothing is impossible. With passion, commitment, hard work and perseverance everything is possible. Presently our mission is to see 20 universities of India (10 each Government & Private) to be included among top 100 universities of the world, and one of these can be LPU."
Explaining how to tackle the lurking challenges, Prof Sahasrabudhe suggested that innovation in imparting education is very necessary. The historical teaching-learning process including discussions, assignments, needs great change. Teaching style is to be changed. Every student has intrinsic qualities and the job of a teacher is to bring out those. Teachers should be one step ahead of their students as today's generation is very inquisitive and operative. Students should be prepared on multi-discipline levels as current scenario needs knowledge as an integrated whole."
More than 2800 Heads of Faculties, Schools, Divisions, Departments, Members of Teaching, Administrative and Technical wings received enthralling lessons from him. He spoke to length on 'Educating the 21st Century Educators'. On this occasion, a brochure on faculty development programme of the newly inaugurated HRD Center was also unveiled by AICTE Chairman. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal welcomed Prof Sahasrabudhe and informed about his multi-faceted personality with revolutionary and successful outcomes, Mr Mittal said: "I am happy to share that entire LPU community is enthralled to have great advices from a great educator like him. His life experiences and sharing thereof will certainly lead LPU to emerge as one among top 100 universities of the world as per his best wishes and anticipations."
Prof Sahasrabudhe also laid stress on transforming prevalent examination system and strong industry-institution interaction. He informed that his department has already permitted that 20% of faculty should be from the industry. The labs and libraries should remain open for the enthusiastic students round the clock. He also anticipated that teachers should be role models for their students and must enthuse social and moral values in them through their exemplary behaviour.
Much awarded for leadership and innovative acumen in the area of technology development and entrepreneurship initiatives, Prof Sahasrabudhe has illustrious career of three decades as great educator of the country. Prior to his joining as AICTE Chairman, he already held numerous important academic, research and administrative positions. He was scientific officer at Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore), served as Assistant/Associate Professor at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (Arunachal Pradesh), IIT Guwahati, and as Director, College of Engineering Pune. In connection with his various academic and research activities he has also visited many international universities in USA, Germany, Canada, France, China, Switzerland, Netherlands, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and Sri Lanka.
