Allison's Invention and Starnes & Shah Bring Wonderland to The Living Room.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) August 25, 2011 - Allison's Invention, formerly known as Allison Tartalia, has made it through the rabbit hole and is fully immersed in her Wonderland adventures. After a string of successful West Coast tour dates, she will be returning to New York City for a "Drink Me / Happy Hour" show at The Living Room on September 12th at 6PM with Starnes&Shah. As part of their early evening performance, they will be offering a drink and merchandise raffle for attendees.
No stranger to the New York scene, Allison's Invention captures the singer's brutally honest, and at times satirical lyrics that fearlessly portray her failed relationships and family struggles. Her songwriting prowess is showcased on her new EP Sweet and Vicious - for which she performed release shows in New York and Los Angeles.
Recently up for an Emmy for her work on the documentary 5,000 Miles From Home, Allison is able to use her vast music skills in multiple entertainment avenues. Her classical piano background and self-taught guitar playing, along with the eclectic instrumentation and complex arrangements, make for an intriguing and thoroughly entertaining live show. Allison's ability to engage multiple audiences with her fusion of jazz, chamber pop and folk makes her transcend typical solo artist stereotypes.
Starnes&Shah is a vocal duo comprised of Zilpha Starnes (keyboards and vocals) and Dania Abu-Shaheen (guitar and vocals). The group was formed in Astoria NY in 2005. Described as psychedelic folk, the music ranges from paired down acoustic ditties to rock anthems complete with choral arrangements and layered guitar effects. They have played shows in Northeastern cities including Burlington, Portland, Boston, Philadelphia, and their current home city, New York.
