'Dream Fund' Scholarship Established to Help Dreamers to Pursue Their Visions

Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) June 09, 2015 - Those with a dream - any dream - are encouraged to apply for a new personal development scholarship that will dedicate proceeds from author Julieanne O'Connor's books to help individuals pursue their greatest aspirations.

The S.I.O. Dream Fund, named for O'Connor's "Spelling It Out" book series, is accepting submissions through Sept. 5. Scholarship awards will be announced on Jan. 1, 2016, dedicating a portion of shares from the two books, "Spelling It Out For Your Man" and "Spelling It Out For Your Career."

"Everyone has a dream; but not everyone knows there is a 'dream fund' available now awaiting the right people to take a chance on what they really want to do," said O'Connor, of Ventura County, Calif. "I love when people's dreams come to life, and want to provide inspiration for others to own their potential."

Scholarship requirements are simple, starting with "You must have a dream," and also requesting a synopsis of what an applicant wishes to do or accomplish, some details about how the dream will be pursued and brief statements about the person's vision and desires. Scholarship gift amounts are to be determined, but can include a portion of tuition for art, acting, music, or dance classes; funding for a prototype for an invention such as a robot or drone; help to relocate to a geographic location better situated to pursue certain dreams such as surfing, skiing, or opening a café in Paris; or assistance covering costs for personal development courses, or to help fund a charitable cause. "One requirement is to absolutely have fun while completing the application process, which by itself forces applicants to think and write about what specifically their dream may be," O'Connor said. "For some, their dream has been in their head for a long time, without action to nudge it along. Hopefully the S.I.O. Dream Fund can help some dreams come true, or at the very least provide inspiration for that first step."
