'Chuck's Vik Sahay Reveals Life as Lester Patel
Vik Sahay discusses what it has been like being Lester Patel in the television show 'Chuck' with TheCelebrityCafe.com.
- (1888PressRelease) January 22, 2011 - MALVERN, NY - Vik Sahay plays Lester Patel on NBC's hit series Chuck.
In a recent interview with TheCelebrityCafe.com, Sahay talks about getting back into the show, Chuck and how it will be like for this upcoming season.
"In the world of Chuck we [Lester and Jeffster] are like the planet that only comes around once in a while, or orbits more out there and takes us awhile to come back. But when we do come back there is a little pressure to bring it when it omes to singing a song. You know we gotta reinvent it and put color on why Lester wants to express his self that way" Sahay explains.
This 'color' that Sahay mentions have been a complicate process in playing his character on the show, Lester.
"He is a very different person than I am so every time there is a big break, like the holidays or when we are on hiatus or whatever, he kinda slips out of me and I have to ruffle up my feathers again each time," he describes, "So if I am shooting in the morning, I get up really early and do some prep work to make sure that I stay as close in character all day as possible because it is not something that I can easily slip in and out of. So he is far away from me and does take a little bit of shifting gears."
Because of this complicated character, Sahay explains that Lester would not be getting his own spin off anytime soon.
"That kind of thing I can't really spend time on. It's just outside my job description and I just need to make sure I serve the character and that I play Lester as I built him and make sure he is a human being as much as possible."
In the larger picture, Sahay reveals what fans should expect from the upcoming season.
"The show goes in really, really beautifully deep into two directions" Sahay states, "One is the constant searching for and discovering who Chuck's mother is, and that the relationship between Chuck and Sarah take several steps forward."
Sahay explains that even though Chuck is comedy, he has never been trained as comedian. He also says that he has taken part in drama.
For fans, Sahay explains that he has taken part of a drama movie called Afghan Loop Burgundy of Hash for those who are interested in seeing his works outside the boundaries of Chuck.
