"Checked Inn" Reality Show Sneak-Peek, Coming November on Oprah's OWN Network Published 09/22/2017
An editorial review of Oprah's OWN NETWORK Reality TV Series, "Checked Inn", which is expected to launch this November. Inside details about this new show, it's main "character" - Monique Greenwood and her real-life impressions.
- Richmond-Petersburg, VA (1888PressRelease) September 22, 2017 - Oprah’s new reality series, “Checked Inn” is scheduled to premier November 25, 2017, which so happens to be on my birthday, Saturday 10/9c featuring Mrs. Monique Greenwood’s Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast. In my humble opinion, this show will be a HUGE “Jet-Set, Yes” for OWN Network!
I had the pleasure of viewing the actual promo submitted to Ms. Winfrey’s Media Production Company in hopes of landing a deal with OWN, in addition to a sneak peek produced by OWN after their deal was sealed. Monique Greenwood brings a balance of strong-will and compassion to her employees as well as the guests served at her esteemed Poconos, 25,000 square foot, 22 acers estate. The Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast brings to life a mansion featuring Gilded Age Architecture, previously owned by the founders of F.W. Woolworth Company.
As a real-estate & hospitality entrepreneur, Mrs. Greenwood’s determination to give her guests the very best, shows her push for high-quality reception and service. An example of this very effort was seen during the sneak peek of “Checked Inn”. When Mrs. Greenwood’s chef initially did not make one of their Christmas Celebration staples – cornbread. Well, I’ll save the details for you to view for yourself, but what occurred will make you laugh aloud, get you to breathe deeply as you experience being in the shoes of Mrs. Greenwood, and bring about your own opinions as the party preparation time draws neigh. I will clue you in on this, by the time the dinner guests were seated, the buttery cornbread was fresh, hot, and ready.
It has been my experience when traveling that these “little details”, end up adding to a “whole impression” of customer care and frankly, business ethics. OWN’s thrust for docu-series of Black Love correlates well with what viewers will be surprised to witness with “Checked Inn”. Up-close, direct, and sometimes even intense, couples share of themselves while on an intimate get-a-way at one of Akwaaba’s four B&B’s.
Mrs. Greenwood put it all on the line for Akwaaba, when she left a dream position as Editor-In-Chief of Essence Magazine. Yielding her practiced values of hard-work and determination, Akwaaba seems to have birthed an overflow and well - deserve abundance. Although I consider myself reserved and somewhat camera shy, I did exercise my option at this VIP event hosted by Afrikana Independent Film Festival, Thursday, September 14, 2017 that premiered at the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia to meet Mrs. Greenwood, whom was accompanied by her husband of 28 years, Glenn Pogue, their budding 25-year-old daughter Glynn Pogue, a writer, and Melody Short Akwaaba’s Marketing Director.
Mrs. Monique Greenwood greeted me with open arms, casting all my apprehensions away. As approachable as Mrs. Greenwood comes across on the big screen, she also appears to be the same in person, an asset that cannot be bought, transferred, or resold. With supporting staff members like Melody Short, who resonates energy, excitement, and promise, wearing yellow the night of the sneak peek gleamed as bright on the inside as she did on the outside. Ms. Short, a native of Richmond, Virginia, as I am too, but has not had the pleasure of her acquaintance, looks to be making her own leaps and bounds!
I encourage you to visit one, if not all of Akwaaba’s Bed & Breakfast Mansions in person, tell them Honor sent you. By the way, I’ll be packing my bags real soon.
P.S. Don’t forget to tune in November 25, 2017 to OWN, 10/9c, you’ll be “checking in” for a REAL treat!
P.S.S. I’ll be enjoying this show with my birthday cake or should I say cupcake! LOL!
