'Billion Hearts Beating' Campaign Lights Up The Great Monument Of Hyderabad In Red To Celebrate The 'World Heart Day!'

To mark the occasion of World Heart Day on September 29, 2011, 'Billion Hearts Beating Foundation' is running a week long awareness program "Happy Heart Fest" all across India. In Hyderabad, His Excellency, Sri E S L Narasimhan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, supported the cause by unveiling the Calm Song. The song, composed by leading artists from India's music fraternity, was launched in the backdrop of the Charminar which was lit up in red to mark the occasion.

Six leading musicians joined hands to support the Billion Hearts Beating campaign by composing a calm song. The Calm Song was composed by renowned composer Shamir Tandon, strings by Sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar and sung by top vocalists- Hariharan, Sonu Nigam, Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan. This Calm Song stimulates people to lay down their stress and to lead fuller, healthier lives.
The historic Charminar, one of the wonders of Hyderabad was lit up in red to symbolize World Heart Day. The dazzling display attracted people from all over Hyderabad and drew them to take pledge to fight against rising heart disease in India.

As part of the campaign, the Billion Hearts Beating Foundation has identified 5 measures, which can make Indians have healthier hearts. The measures are Eating Healthy, Active Lifestyle, Regular Health Checks, Not Smoking and Beating Stress, and each one of these Controls has been adopted by one Celebrity Crusader to make one billion Indians aware of them as simple measures to keep their heart healthy.
Addressing the occasion, Ms Sangita Reddy, Operations, Executive Director, Apollo Hospitals, said, "The campaign aims at making people aware about small lifestyle changes which can do wonders to make their heart beat a healthy tune."
