About the Book:
Whilst staying at her grandma's during the school holidays, Isla discovers a mystical-looking book which transports her off to the magical land of Atalan. On her arrival, she meets the Unkerdunkies, a tribe of elf-like people who live in the forest. Two of the Unkerdunkies, Fartybubble and Oliver, befriend Isla and help her in her quest to find a way home. What follows is an exciting adventure through Atalan as the trio find themselves chased by dragon-like creatures, encounter giant trolls and battle vicious goblins.
Will Isla be able to find a way back home and return to her family?
About the Author:
Richard Brewin has spent most of his working life within the health and fitness industry. He also has a passion for writing and after years of toying with the idea of writing a book, he has now completed his first children's fantasy fiction. Inspired by and written for his children, Richard decided to get it published after receiving tremendous feedback from those that read it. Children's fiction is the genre he enjoys the most and hopes to publish many more titles in the future.
Excerpt from the book:
“Fartybubble nodded to his father and gestured for Isla to follow him. He led her away from the horde of Unkerdunkies, across a rope bridge to a small hut that was carved out of one of the large tree trunks. Oliver followed on after. He kept his head down as he walked, obviously upset that his idea had been rejected by his father.
Once they reached the doorway to the hut, Fartybubble showed Isla inside. She had to duck her head slightly to enter. There wasn’t much room inside, and the room was pretty bare; there was a small desk and stool in one corner that had been carved out of wood. On the opposite side of the room was what Isla could only presume was the bed. It looked like a large branch had been hollowed out, and inside it had been stuffed with leaves and material that resembled straw. Isla wasn’t very hopeful of a good night’s sleep.
“We will let you get some sleep, and we shall see you in the morning,” Fartybubble said as he exited the hut.
“Don’t worry, we will find a way to get you home,” said Oliver from the doorway. And with that, he wished her goodnight and left her to her thoughts.
Isla sat down onto the bed of twigs, leaves, and straw and rested her head in her hands. She didn’t think she would get much sleep tonight as she had so much racing through her mind, but as she sat down, a wave of tiredness swept over her. Maybe it was the effect of the drink she had earlier. Whatever it was, her eyes suddenly felt very heavy. She rested her head onto the giant leaf which was her pillow for the night and before she knew it, she was fast asleep.”
