"Adeela" OC Filmmakers Serves Charities with Creativity
ADEELA filmmakers implement a new online campaign to assist with their fundraising efforts aimed towards charities that assist abused women and children.
- (1888PressRelease) June 26, 2012 - Orange County, CA - The Islamophobia-combating short film ADEELA filmmakers continue their fundraising efforts as they launch a new online fundraising campaign starting on June 13th, 2012. The minimum donation is $5, and with every $5 (or more) donated to the film, the production team will donate $1 to a charity.
The producers plan to focus on one charity for five days at a time. After the five days have passed, the team will select a new charity to donate to. The first charitable organization chosen will be Human Options.
Human Options provides a safe haven and life-changing programs to help abused women, their children and families rebuild their shattered lives - and works with the community to break the vicious cycle of domestic violence.
The Adeela production team has been in the fundraising process throughout much of 2012. They recently held a fundraising event in Buena Park, which was very well received. Since then, the team has launched an online fundraiser through the site IndieGoGo.com.
About "Adeela"
"Adeela" tells the story of a starry-eyed young Arab American woman grappling with racism and hate in an unforgiving small conservative town. Upon relocating to this town, which was new to her, she catches the admiring eyes of Aaron-a prominent councilman's son. Together, the couple push for Adeela to sing the national anthem at the town's 4th of July festival. But with interference from Aaron's brother and father, the lofty goal becomes a seemingly-insurmountable obstacle, and one that could change both of their lives, and the town, forever.
