As mothers, we need to pay particular attention to love: to dwell in love, to move in love. God’s love is the foundation on which every mother's love was designed to be built. God has shown us the essence of His love by an act of self-sacrifice - sending His one and only son to the cross to pay the penalty for our sin. This sacrificial act of love through the cross demonstrates that God totally accepts us, because He was willing to enable us to be forgiven for everything we have ever done. God not only accepts and embraces us as we are, He also equips us by giving us the Holy Spirit to dwell inside of us; enabling us to love just as He loves. This love is unpacked in more detail in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8: ‘Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
