#6 Mitchum Motorsports Memorial Day Classic Preview
GRAND-AM's, Jeff Bucknum and Robert Stout head to Lime Rock Park for the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series.
- (1888PressRelease) May 28, 2011 - GRAND-AM's, Jeff Bucknum and Robert Stout head to Lime Rock Park in the #6 Lucas Oil/Sunoco/Makita Power Tools/E3 Spark Plugs/Rockstar Energy Chevy Camaro GS.R for the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series' Memorial Day Classic. The duo entered the weekend after placing 17th at the Bosch Engineering 250 at the Virginia International Raceway.
"I am really looking forward to racing at Lime Rock Park this weekend in the #6 Lucas Oil Mitchum Motorsports Camaro," said Jeff Bucknum. "I feel like a bunch of things are coming together this year all at the same time. We will be running a new rear wing on the Camaro and my teammate Robert Stout has really stepped up his driving to a level I knew he would get to. Lime Rock Park may not be the best track for the Camaro, but I do think it will prove to be a good race track for us if we don't have too many caution flags during the race. The Camaro did much better last year if we had long runs under green flag conditions. As the tires would fade during the race last year, other cars would slow down but the Camaro kept a nice constant speed. I feel like this race is going to be the turning point for us getting better and better the rest of the season."
For GM driver Jeff Bucknum this weekend's race, is going back to a circuit he's had success in giving Chevrolet their best finish to date since the relaunch of the iconic muscle car into professional competition. For Stout, vying for Rookie of the Year honors in the 2011 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series season, he is adjusting well to the new circuits, new team and teammate. On the season the team is just five points out of the Top-10 in the Team Points Championship, and has already amassed two Top-10 finishes which has Stout solidly in the Grand Sport class Rookie of the Year standings on the season, currently third in GS.
"I am really looking forward to a great weekend at Lime Rock," said Robert Stout. "Along with Jeff, I want to keep the momentum going that we have built so far this season.
