HelmetHead Cycle Announces Upcoming Revolution Website
Donned as a hybrid between a webstore, forum and social media outlet, HelmetHead Cycle's upcoming site also features a lifetime commission affiliate program that gives its customers an opportunity to earn a commission from sales to other customers.
- (1888PressRelease) May 18, 2011 - In 2008, development began on a new webstore for HelmetHead Cycle which included enterprise level development and security technology to further their growth, as well as strengthening their customer security. The code was finalized and launched in 2009 with some remarkable fanfare from current customers. In 2010, HelmetHead Cycle redesigned their approach with some tacky flair as an experiment to "see if it would work." Overall traffic almost doubled when the "tacky flair" website launched, which is the current one still in existence.
However, the core business model isn't tacky at all. "We went a different route than [our] larger corporate [competition] sites take, and basically regressed our design approach. Our number one priority is to provide exceptional customer service to our customers while striving to get orders out as fast as possible through our network of over 100 vendors," explains Jeremy Harris, director of IT and media operations for the company.
Since the 2010 redesign, HelmetHead Cycle's developers have been working on a completely new version of their code which acts largely like a social network when it comes to users able to interact with other users. "This is our new experiment," says Harris. "Along with a plethora of new features, we've not really removed the tackiness. [We've] just have made it more refined, faster, more intuitive and just made it downright awesome."
Users will have the ability to create personal avatars from uploaded photos on the new site and follow other users who post messages on the service or who upload photos. The affiliate tracking system shows registered affiliates where their traffic is coming from and displays analytical data with pie charts and drill-down data. The data also includes top products from which their referrer traffic has viewed and ordered, an advanced algorithm for determining recommended products to market and "trendy" products which are the hottest over the past 30 days. The homepage sports a bit of flair, but is mostly comprised of two master headings: "Popular Products Under $50" and "Popular Brands" complete with logos. Brand logos are alongside every product to increase brand awareness, customer focus and credibility.
"We have plans on taking this thing into an entirely new direction, over time. Currently known for just powersport accessories to most people, we do sell camping gear and plan on diverging our market to all types of travel. If we can continue moving forward, we hope to be selling hotel and flight reservations by the year's end," says Harris. "Hotel and flight reservations are key components to people who wish to take a journey abroad, and perhaps do some motorcycle touring at their destination. We may be partnering with a well-known service who will handle the backend of the reservations, turning our site into a portal for them, while integrating it completely into our new system. This means that the look and feel of the website will not be compromised with hotel and flight reservations. We've got total control over the front end of this. With this service in place, we might create a new umbrella company which houses all of these services."
Unlike many other affiliate networks, HelmetHead will be offering their affiliates their own customized subdomains for HelmetHead Cycle. Typically known as the "www" before most websites, affiliate chosen subdomains replace this "www" and not only provide a unique way to promote the store, but also enables the store to track affiliate generated traffic.
The base commission level is currently set at 10% of the subtotal of affiliate generated orders, with an unlimited cap on new user generated orders. This unlimited cap also is known as a lifetime commission offering.
As the competition grows more and more fierce, HelmetHead Cycle may just be the one little seedling that has planted a really stable root. Time will tell whether Harris's plans will mature or not, however the new affiliate program does look very promising, indeed.
HelmetHead Cycle has been offering powersport accessories to an international market for 10 years running. Initially launching with the Helmet Sunblocker, they have further expanded their offering to include brands such as GIVI, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Arai, K&N, Motolight and dozens more manufacturers and thousands of SKUs.
