Lopez, and her partner at vBuzz, Rs. Luciano, came across O'Malley's book in their research on honeybees. They use a honeybee as their logo and donate part of their profits to saving the honeybees. "We post interesting information about endangered bees as part of our social media marketing plan for vBuzz," explains Lopez. "So, when I came across Michael's book," she continues, "I just knew this was a good fit for cross-promoting." Lopez arranged the Facebook discussion on the vBuzz fan page. For 2 hours O'Malley answered questions posted by vBuzz fans about business and bees. "we had over 600 people following the discussion." says Lopez, Those people checked out The Wisdom of Bees on Amazon and the book's ranking soared.
Lopez, cofounder of vBuzz, uses social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, to help her clients reach a global audience. "What many of us thought could only be used to meet new friends, get in touch with family, find old friends, find new love is now used for marketing purposes," says Lopez.
